A quick note about the Kingdom of God

Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men.

(Romans 14:16-14:18, NIV)

Paul's letter to the Romans, among many other things, contains a simple message about what the Kingdom of God is and is not. The Kingdom of God is not about the rules, especially those rules that the Israelites worked so hard to follow during Old Testament times, but rather about a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Kingdom of God is about "righteousness," meaning a daily walk in obedience to the will of God. The Kingdom is about "peace," living in peace with God and in peace with those around you. Finally, the Kingdom is about "joy," the joy that can only be found by having an intimate relationship with God.

Spend some time today, as I have over the past few days, considering your relationship with God. If you are seeking a more intimate relationship with Him, then take a moment today to express your feelings to Him. Take a moment to pray, to read the Bible, to seek out God's will for your life. I know that He will point you in the direction of the righteousness, peace, and joy that Paul talked about in this verse. These things come from knowing that Jesus Christ is your savior and seeking daily to maintain a personal relationship with God.

(I know that it has been a long time since I have posted to this blog. I am thankful to God for giving me the strength to return to writing. I am excited that God has compelled me to write once more about His Kingdom. My hope is that He will bless this work and that He will guide my future writing.)
