What should this blog be about?

Happy New Year! I am thankful for the opportunity to share information with you about K-12 mathematics assessment and large-scale educational assessment. Today many of us are setting goals for the upcoming year. One of my goals is to increase readership of this blog by presenting useful information in a clear and thorough manner. Last month I researched a number of related blogs in order to discover what others were doing. I reviewed popular blogs on education, mathematics education, and educational assessment. I discovered some things caused me to start wondering about the direction this blog should take. I very much want to reach a larger audience. However, I feel that there may not be much interest in the topics I currently write about.

Last month I searched for popular education blogs, K-12 mathematics education blogs, and educational assessment blogs. I found that popular blogs talk about the similar topics.

  • Popular education blogs focus on the use of technology in education or provide information about the latest instructional theory.

  • Popular math education blogs discuss interesting math problems or provide ideas for interesting math lessons.

  • There doesn't appear to be any blogs that discuss educational assessment.

Here's my dilemma. Should I re-create this blog based on what is popular? Or, should I continue to write on topics that I feel are important but that don't appear to generate much traffic? I'd like to hear your thoughts. Please leave a comment and let's talk about the direction this blog should take in 2013.
