I know test construction

I bet many of you are familiar with the saying Write what you know. I am in the very early stages of doing exactly that. For some time now I've wanted to write an article that, in some depth, explains the test construction process. The test construction process represents the series of activities developers go through to identify the items that will appear on a test. The process is complex because of the high number of issues that are weighed as the developer builds the test. There are issues of content characteristics and psychometric characteristics. Test developers have targets but not always a clear roadmap about how to get there. Anyway, I hope to write an article that illuminates the process; both for those that don't develop tests every day and those that do.
