Somersworth Storm Day 01 | Print |
Sunday, 13 June 2010 08:05

Yesterday Sarah’s all-start softball team, the Somersworth Storm, participated in its first tournament of the summer. After traveling two hours to Newport, NH the team played three consecutive games. The Storm started with a game against Rochester, NH. (Why travel two hours to Rochester – they’re the next town up the road from Somersworth?) The Storm picked up an 11-8 win against their neighbors. In the second game, the Storm lost a heartbreaker to Merrimack. The final score was 24 to 6. The Storm bounced back strong in game 3, beating host Newport (CVSA) 10 to 9 with a loud home-team crowd on hand.

Sarah struck out once and walked seven times in the three contests. She didn’t score on the day. She also played some good defense, splitting time between center and right field.

Today (June 13, 2010) the Storm start the day playing Suncook at 1:00 p.m. The top four teams (out of five) advance to championship games at 3:00 p.m. The weather calls for more rain today and perhaps a passing thunderstorm. Hopefully the weather will hold out as the folks in Newport look to put this tournament into the books.
